Coming soon. The magazine’s issue archive and publishing workflow are being developed. The editorial guide below explains the intended scope.
Explore more than a headline
A long-form feature can explain how an idea developed, where evidence disagrees and why a question matters beyond a specialist audience. It should give readers enough context to understand the problem without pretending to settle every debate.
A useful story has a central question and a clear thread, not a list of unrelated innovations.
Build the story around evidence
Identify original studies, credible background material and perspectives that address the question. Explain uncertainty in plain language and distinguish factual reporting from argument or personal reflection.
Images, diagrams and quotations need provenance and permission. Illustration should clarify the account, not make an unsupported claim appear authoritative.
Make room for science and creativity
Science intersects with art, design, food, technology and everyday decisions. These connections can make a subject approachable while retaining a clear boundary between a creative interpretation and a scientific finding.
Readers should be able to tell which parts are evidence, which are explanation and which are the author’s perspective.
Prepare a feature proposal
Send a working title, audience, central question, brief outline, principal sources and the reason you are suited to tell the story. State any relevant interests and the rights available for proposed media.
A pitch is not an accepted commission, a publication agreement or a promise of payment. Confirm terms and editorial arrangements before producing work for publication.
